"A CIVIL ENGINEER LOOKS AT THE GREAT PYRAMID"

AUTHOR: ENG. SAMUEL LABOY

PROLOGO POR EL ING. EDUARDO RAMIREZ SANTIAGO, Ph D, CATEDRATICO DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE PUERTO RICO, RECINTO DE MAYAGUEZ, P.R.

The present book, "A Civil Engineer Looks At The Great Pyramid”,  inspires and illustrates the full analytical study of the geometric planning and design of the great square pyramid of Egypt, which resulted in the accomplishment of this monumental work of Cheops’s Pyramid, marvel of the World in the past, in the present and in the future.

In this study the author took in consideration, both, the external as well as the internal configuration of this Monument, which is considered evidence of the greatness of the Mathematicians and the Civil Engineers of the old Egyptian epoch.

This comprehensive work describes, with luxury of geometric details, the analytical method which define the dimensional characteristics that possesses the Great Pyramid, both in its exterior aspect and as well as its interior geometric details.

It is amazing the fact that by means of this analytical geometric method you can corroborate with great exactitude all dimensions and particularities of the prominent engineering structure, which induced the intellect to think over this Egyptian Marvel.

The Cheops’s Square Pyramid consists of about 2,300,000 limestone blocks of an average weight of 2 ½ tons and reaching a maximum of 15 tons. This data, in part, induce this geometrical engineering study of the Great Pyramid. The design and construction of this monumental structure lead the author to dedicate his intellectual and engineering knowledge to the presentation of this magnificent and excellent work.

Only one facet of man’s evolving culture has exhibited virtually un-interrupted progress: the ability to convert, to his use materials at hand in the environment so that his reach was extended, his strength multiplied, and his work time shortened.  This ability to create and use his intellect is man’s technology. Congratulations to the Egyptian Mathematicians and Engineers!

I recommend this interesting and valuable reference book to all scientists, mathematicians and engineers, interested in the Egyptian pyramids.

PINTOR SIXTO FEBUS

Samuel,

Good Luck! with your website. Its a difficult task to write technical data for the lay person to understand, what you see clearly is difficult for others. I can see you have put a lot of effort and time into your work. My question is simple; why, for what purpose do you suppose the architects incorporated all three pyramids from one design pattern, what purpose would it serve them? For sure there has to be a reason...

Regards,

B.A. Hokom

B.A.Hokom,

Thanks, but do not get confused about the calculations and formulas. The answer to your question is also simple.

To me, each pyramid has a different design pattern, such as the square circumscribed by a circle, the circle circumscribed by a square, the golden circle, are some of them. Kephren and Micerinus used their own geometrical configurations. Some are combinations of different designs, like the design of the Bent Pyramid. See the analysis I made of this pyramid.
By the way, Pharaoh Khufu used the most beautiful configuration, the Golden circle.

For example, if you want to design the pyramid from the configuration where the circle circumscribed the square. Draw a circle and the square; trace the vertical and the horizontal diameter. Set the diagonals of the square. Consider the radius of the circle as the pyramid's height. That's it, you have a pyramid which if let the radius as one, the pyramid can be easily calculated. The same can be done with other pyramid’s designs.

At the front page of my web site, just "Click" where it says Kephren, at the pyramid's photo. Your question will be answered there.

In relation to the Great Pyramid, read Chapter 2 of my English book, where I design a complete model of the outside and interior of the Great Pyramid, for the lay persons. I used no numbers, no formulas, no calculations. Numbers, dimensions and formulas are used through the book to prove that my model is exactly equal to the Great Pyramid, as measured by Egyptologists.

See also Chapter 6, Leonardo da Vinci, to see the importance of his famous drawing, in relation to the Great Pyramid's design.

Sorry, I will have to be out for about a month to undergo heart surgery. I will be back.

Until them,

Samuel Laboy

Hi Sam,
So good to see you back on the board. I bookmarked your site, and printed out three chapters.

This is a very nice site! I also enjoyed the beautiful pictures of Puerto Rico.

My mother had heart surgery when she was about 78. The operation went flawlessly. Her complete recovery was gradual and uneventful, but took a while - a little less than a year, I think. (She just couldn't go flying out of bed the next week.)
Our good wishes and prayers will be with you.

Sincerely,
Janine

Sam, thanks for the credit to my photographs in your post and very best wishes for your surgery.

Samuel:

I will celebrate your good health today! You had me scared for a while.

I hope your book is published because it has new and unique information highly valued by Pyramid students. I also hope it is a financial success.

If you need illustrations, I volunteer as I am able. I am a retired professional illustrator.

You are well covered with excellent diagrams. The photos might be better understood with the use of illustrations.

Much respect, Buhlah

Samuel:

I enjoy your web site very much.
